25% of the revenues of the "Gucci for Unicef" extra Edition will go to the Unicef initiative "Schools for Africa" in Malawi and Mozambique. More than one million children have become ofphans on behalf of Hiv / Aids.
"Schools for Africa" was founded in 2004 bei both Unicef and the Nelson Mandela Foundation. The intention is to furnish instruction to all the children in Africa. Especially orphans and children in greatest poverty are gaining entrance to instruction straight through this foundation.
With the help of this foundation Gucci has until today donated more than 5 million dollars to Unicef by various charity projects. Gucci hopes that all of us will help and keep Unicef efforts in the fight against poverty in the coming years. Some of us can indubitably do that by buying a Babouska bag and so turn the life of children in need.
The new "Jackie", a fresh and contemporary reinterpretation of the legendary Jackie Bag, is designed by Gucci Creativ Director Frida Giannini. First designed in the 1950s the bag became one of Jaqueline Onassis' favorite accessory and soon got tagged "The Jackie".
The new Jackie is still drawing from the predominant original: round corners and typical details are strongly influenced by "Jackies" original. The oversize organize as well as the highly soft leather refer to contemporary times, though. Violet, emerald green, bougainvillea red, snow white or original pastel colours: The New Jackie comes looks fresh and very up to date. Frida Gianninis trade mark, long leather frays with bamboo details, make a very unique bag.
Above all, the new Jackie is, just like the original, a excellent handbag made for eternity. The new interpretation shows the florentine craftmanship of the Gucci manufactory. Every detail plays its own important part: The dominant and large leather applications are handmade, a technique that has been taken over from saddle makers and is used exclusively in Florence.
